Urs Scherrer passed away…

This is with great sadness that we have learned that Urs Scherrer passed away on last the 20th August, when he was 70, following a battle with cancer. Urs has sailed in our class for more than 30 years, accumulating a great record of successes . In the late 90’s, tired to fight to find good crews, Urs shifted to single-handed skiff, first RS600 than Musto Skiff, where he continued to challenge young guys with the determination that all 5O5 sailors knew from him. I personally had the highest respect, for the man and for the sailor. Our thoughts go to Marie-Claire and her Family.

C’est avec une grande tristesse que nous avons appris que Urs Scherrer est décédé le 20 août dernier dans sa 70ème année à la suite d’un dur combat contre le cancer. Urs a navigué dans notre classe pendant plus de 30 ans, accumulant nombre succès. A la fin des années 90, fatigué devant la tâche de trouver de bons équipiers, Urs a abandonné le 505 et a commencé à naviguer en skiff, d’abord en RS600 puis en Musto Skiff, classes dans lesquelles il a continué à challenger les plus jeunes avec la détermination que l’on lui connaissait. J’avais personnellement le plus grand respect pour l’homme et pour le navigateur. Toutes nos pensées vont vers Marie-Claire et vers sa famille.

    C’est avec émotion que nous avons appris le décès de M. Marcel Buffet. Lui qui a vu la naissance du 5o5, qui fut Champion du Monde et qui a tant donné à la classe nous laissera le souvenir d’un navigateur hors pair et d’un homme aux qualités humaines appréciées.

    Tous les membres de la Swiss 505 Class se réunissent pour présenter leurs condoléances à leurs amis français en deuil.

    Vice Presidency:
    JB DuPont (France) 86
    A Ross (USA) 76
    Jean-Baptiste DuPont will continue as Vice President for a further two years from 1 January 2007

    Change to Rule B 8.2.2 to permit loose-footed mainsails:
    For 130
    Against 37
    The revised Rule B 8.2.2 will come into effect on 1 January 2007.

    Annual General Meeting 2006 and Winter Training
    General
    Dear all, some very active 5o5 sailors have requested to shift by one week the Winter Trainings initially sheduled on October 14-15 and October 21-22 because the 14th & 15th are in the middle of the school holidays. Since we want to have as much boats as possible to these events, these Winter Trainings will therefore take place on:

    October 21-22 and October 28-29 at Bevaix.

    The detailed program will follow ASAP. Have frequent looks at: www.5o5.ch

    NB. The Annual General Meeting will take place on Saturday October the 21st at the Club of Bevaix
